Starting the Garden

This will be the first time since we moved in that I will have an actual garden. Previous years I’ve repurposed flower beds and container gardened, usually buying seedlings and transplanting. This year, decided to a) start my own seeds and b) have an actual garden plot.

I went with all gmo-free heirloom seeds from Bakers (www.rareseeds.com). Started them indoors in organic seed starter, with lights and heat mats as appropriate.

Once they were big enough, I moved them out to my green greenhouse. Obviously, this required Ghost to take over guard duty. 20140429-152238.jpg20140429-152307.jpg

A dear friend helped with site prep for the garden plot. Thank goodness for friends with tractors!

Now, to be patient 🙂 I think berries may be in the immediate future. Look for future updates as my garden grows!
