I remember as a child visiting my neighbor’s chicken coop.  They had a large variety of farm birds, all the hardy “farm raised”type.  But one stood out–a beautiful “Dominicker” rooster!  Now, years later, I had the opportunity to start my own flock and searched out the Dominique breed.

At this time, I have a very small flock that I am slowly working on expanding.  Dom’s are a dual purpose heritage bird that excels a foraging around the farm.  They are listed on the watch list for the Livestock Conservancy and also listed on the Slow Food Ark of Taste.
